What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a procedure that removes excess fat from the abdominal region. It is a helpful surgery for women who have been pregnant or men who have gained extra weight in their midsections as they've become older. After a tummy tuck with Dr. Howard S. Sutkin in Los Gatos, CA, our patients enjoy a firmer, flatter stomach. With this surgery, Dr. Sutkin and his staff at The Cosmetic Institute have helped various individuals throughout the area, including residents of Los Gatos, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and Campbell.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck with us in Los Gatos might be right for you if you have excess skin in the abdominal region because of significant weight loss or childbirth. Ideal candidates for abdominoplasty have been at a stable weight for at least a year and are in good overall health.
How is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
An abdominoplasty involves an incision between the hipbones and above the pubic area. A second incision is created that separates the navel from the tissue underneath. The skin is then brought up to rib-level, and the abdominal muscles are pulled up and stitched into place, as is the navel. Excess skin is trimmed away, and Dr. Sutkin then replaces the remaining skin and closes the incisions. A tummy tuck in Los Gatos may last from two to five hours and is sometimes an outpatient procedure.
What Can I Expect After a Tummy Tuck?
After your abdominoplasty, bandages will be placed and a tube may be inserted into the site of the surgery; this will drain any excess fluids that accumulate. Discomfort and swelling may be experienced, but these can be alleviated with medication prescribed by Dr. Sutkin. Five to 10 days after your tummy tuck in Los Gatos, the stitches will be removed. Deeper stitches may be left in and removed after three weeks.
Complications with tummy tucks are rare, but may include blood clotting and infection. An infection may be treated with prescribed antibiotics. Blood clots may be avoided by engaging in exercise to circulate the blood and strengthen muscles. Scarring may be particularly noticeable during the first six months, but within a year it will gradually lessen, flatten and become much less apparent. Most patients will be able to return to their jobs in two to four weeks. For the best surgical results and to lessen the risks of complication, patients should follow Dr. Sutkin’s instructions for pre- and post-abdominoplasty care.
What is the Cost of a Tummy Tuck in Los Gatos?
The cost of a tummy tuck in Los Gatos can vary greatly, based on the extent of the surgery and the methods used. You can get a better idea of what Los Gatos tummy tuck prices might be for you by meeting with Dr. Sutkin and his staff of professionals.
