How is Labiaplasty Performed?

During vaginal rejuvenation at our Los Gatos site, Dr. Sutkin will typically use one of two techniques to remove excess tissue from the labia minora, the inner genital lips. The first method requires the excision of a long strip of the labia minora. The second involves the removal of a wedge- or V-shaped section through which the excess tissue and fat are eliminated; the top and bottom are then brought together. In both techniques, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures.

What Can I Expect After Labiaplasty?

Our labiaplasty patients in Los Gatos often experience mild to moderate discomfort, which can last several days to several weeks. Dr. Sutkin will prescribe appropriate pain medication for any discomfort you may feel. You may also need to wear supportive undergarments to help reduce swelling, which should subside within six weeks. Your sutures should dissolve within one to three weeks. Although the results of vaginal rejuvenation are permanent, it is possible for the labia to become stretched again through pregnancy, childbirth or sexual activity.
