The first thing you see when you look at someone is their face. Your face creates a first and lasting impression about who you are. For some, their face is weak or unbalanced in certain areas, and chin implants or cheek implants at our San Jose office could be the key to a pronounced, contoured, and more striking first impression.
The chin implants available at our San Jose area office can restore harmony and balance to your facial features, accentuating your good traits and down-playing your flaws. Having a weak jaw can make your face appear unbalanced. A regular size nose can be exaggerated with a weak chin, and a larger nose may appear even larger. Certain stereotypes are also associated with particular chin shapes and sizes. For instance, a small chin may convey weakness and vulnerability, or a pointed chin may be correlated with a “witch’s chin,” creating a negative association. After getting chin implants at our facility near San Jose, you will convey strength, determination, and decisiveness.
Dr. Howard Sutkin will discuss your desired chin shape and size with you, and will select an implant design that will best improve your profile or fill out a narrow chin. Sizers, as well as computer imaging, can help in making this choice. Dr. Sutkin will then place the chin implant through a very small incision under the chin. The scar is barely detectable, and after the procedure your face will be very naturally balanced, so it is rare that anyone will notice the implant.
Many patients opt to undergo this procedure in conjunction with rhinoplasty, to further balance out the proportions of their face.

Cheek implants are a great option for patients who want to regain that full, dimple-cheeked appearance of their youth. Full, round cheeks serve the purpose of filling out your face and keeping you young-looking. Pads of fat give your cheeks their round appearance, but as you age, the fat pads can loose their plumpness, taking on a flat appearance. If your cheeks are deficient in size, whether due to heredity, trauma, or aging, it can make the lower half of your face seem heavier. It can also give you a drawn and gaunt appearance, and can make your under-eye area look much older.
Prominent, full cheeks are the foundation of a youthful, healthy appearance. Women sometimes get cheek implants because they feel their cheeks have a flat and masculine appearance. These women will want to get a wider implant, which will increase the fullness and roundness of their cheeks. Men come to our office to get a more rugged, angular look. For men we use a narrower implant, placed higher on the cheek. Cheek implants can also restore symmetry and balance to the face.
Whether you are a man or woman, when you opt to get cheek implants done at our San Jose area facility, you will find your face looks more chiseled, youthful, and attractive.

The procedure for placing facial implants, whether in the chin, cheek, or jaw, typically follows the same pattern. A small incision will be made in the area, usually along a natural crease of the face. The surgeon will make a small pocket, insert the implant, and then stitch up the incision. Once the chin implant or cheek implant surgery is complete, the incision is dressed with gauze or a protective bandage. Some swelling and bruising may occur. Complications with chin and cheek implants at our San Jose area office are rare, but could include infection of the area and a negative reaction to the anesthesia. Any infection will be treated with antibiotics; in extreme cases, treatment may involve removing and replacing the implant.
