Face Lift Surgery at the Cosmetic Institute — Serving the San Jose, Palo Alto area

The face lift surgery Dr. Sutkin performs for the Palo Alto/San Jose communities is a procedure that smoothes facial skin—reducing or eliminating forehead wrinkles—and lifts the upper eyelids for a younger and more refreshed appearance. Brow and forehead lifts are also included in this category. Face lift surgery is very common, and is not overly complicated or painful. It can create a dramatic improvement in the way that you look, and in the way that you feel about yourself.

Face Lift Surgery

Face lift surgery consists of the surgeon making an incision beside the ears and across the forehead, very close to the hairline in order to avoid visible scarring. If a patient is bald, the face lift surgery incision may be made in the mid-scalp region. After the surgeon makes the incision, an appropriate amount of tissue and excess skin will be removed, and the remaining smoothed skin will be stitched into place. Sterile bandages are then applied. Face lift surgery at the Palo Alto/San Jose area practice of Dr. Sutkin may be conducted as an outpatient procedure, with a sedative and local anesthesia.

After Face Lift Surgery

After your face lift surgery, Dr. Sutkin will advise you to elevate your head for a few days in order to minimize swelling. Some swelling and bruising is to be expected after face lift surgery, but it will largely diminish within one week. Dr Sutkin will remove bandages after a couple days, and the stitches in approximately two weeks. Patients should be able to return to their jobs within seven to 10 days.

Health Concerns

Face lift surgery complications are rare, but could include a reaction to anesthesia and infection. Discomfort or numbness after your face lift surgery can be addressed by medication prescribed by your surgeon. A few hairs may be lost at the incision site, and these may not grow back. Wrinkling your forehead or raising your eyebrows may be more difficult after face lift surgery. There is a risk of scarring at the incision site, but Dr. Sutkin is very experienced in minimizing and hiding these scars. We will provide you with additional information upon the scheduling of your face lift surgery at our office in the San Jose or Palo Alto area, including pre- and post-operative care.
